For sale is a beautiful RCA OP5 mixer/preamp. These are much more rare than the more widely known and appreciated OP6. This particular unit is in nice overall condition and is one of the coolest vintage units out there. The previous owner was a radio station where this would get taken out as part of a remote broadcast rig. The original unit does not have a built in PSU. It was designed to be powered by batteries or an external PSU. This radio station integrated a built-in PSU and wired the audio tubes to accept 6BA6 tubes compared to the original 1609’s. Currently, the unit has been largely recapped and passes audio through each of the inputs. There is an audible hum that could or could not be a problem depending on the signal you’re mic’ing. If I had to guess, I would think that the PSU needs to be better shielded internally or moved outside the box. I will include 1 vintage Canon to modern XLR input adaptor to plug into the back.
