Carnhill transformers are cool, no doubt, but we don’t use a big, old school, un-shielded, hand wound transformers because they can produce noise and interference, at the base of the microphone sleeve. It’s the same problem Georg Neuman had with the original BV08 transformer… Thus redesigning it several times before giving up on the model! Georg gave up on it finally and was never satisfied with the U47, because he couldn’t perfect it with the technology of the time, and he was indeed a perfectionist! . The U47 needed to evolve! It is way more important to have a precision wound transformer perfectly made, well shielded. Our design is way more advanced.
