Vintage AKG D36 Dual Motor Multi-Pattern Dynamic Microphone. AKG’s Top Tier’D Series’ Microphone — Rare As Hen’s Teeth!! It is in pretty great physical condition given its age (early 1960s). The worst of it is some mild cracking at the base (pictured) and missing the tiny screws for the windscreen (which is firmly snug without them). Other than that, it’s a beauty – the windscreen is in great shape – just a gorgeous vintage piece. This mic was tested with a borrowed S36 switch-box & original cabling. The bottom (180 degree) motor passes signal, and sounds like it’s functioning properly with its full bandwidth. The top (0 degree) motor passes signal, and sounds like it has limited bandwidth, so I assume needs its diaphragm replaced. Repair for these mics is available, either by the widely available’bass-loss fix’ or with a donor mic, as it uses the same diaphragms/motors as the other D series (such as the ubiquitous D12). I don’t know which. Too many projects for me at the moment and not enough time to complete them all. Hopefully this rare gem can be put to good use somewhere.. Or Make an Offer!
