These durable snake leads are made using Sommer Mistral SC cable with a flexible black outer jacket. Unbraided tails makes each tail extremely flexible, lightweight and durable, making them perfect for rack/desk wiring, especially when space is tight! It also means we can manufacture the tails to any length you need! Neutriks famous silver connectors are made even more durable with a small peice of heatshrink used under the clamp of each individual connector for that added durability, so you know they really will last forever. The tails have been numbered all the way through the cable for easy identification, and every 8 tails are coded in a different colour making it even more distinguishable! Our custom tail length is 30cm, however please get in touch if you need them to be made at a different length. IMPORTANT – THIS IS NOT A TOUR GRADE PRODUCT, AND IS ONLY RECOMENDED FOR PERMANENT INSTALLATIONS OR STUDIOS. Sommer have been making this cable for almost 10 years using the same proven technology. The SC-Mistral MCF features the pairwise PVC insulation, as it is usual for studio cores. It has a hardwearing number overprint plus an extra colour-coding in steps of 8. The wire pairs of the SC-Mistral MCF have a pre twisted drain wire and another shielding made of AL/PT compound foil. For added protection against corrosion and oxidation both the conductors and the drain wire have been tinned. The cable is particularly easy to handle because the AL/PT foil will stick to the outer jacket when stripping. The SC-Mistral MCF is very easy to lay and reel. We also recommend it for the assembly of multicore adapters. Here the XLR and jack connectors can be mounted directly on the PVC jacket. Additional insulation for each wire pair with a numbered and colour-coded PVC sleeve. Very flexible and tread-resistant owing to the use of a rubberlike jacket material. When dealing with a new guitar cable, this involves creating an extremely low capacitance together with a breathtaking flexibility. Developing an insulation which ensures super low values by means of a gas-injected foaming – this is not an easy job, but well within the bounds of possibility for a professional cable maker. However, protecting this fragile insulation also against motion, creasing or twisting, is indeed a true challenge. With the SC-SPIRIT LLX “LOW LOSS” we have fallen back on the same insulation design as it is used in professional HD-SD video cables. For extra stability of the inner construction we use an optimised concentrical litz stranding and a special insulation curing on the surface. For the outer jacket we have applied a rubberlike soft PVC jacket, which is highly flexible, extremely compact, stretches hardly and protects the whole inner structure from exterior influences. Due to its low capacitance and its very special construction the SC-SPIRIT LLX “LOW LOSS” is one of the world’s ultra-low loss guitar cables. With DIY assembly please watch out that the black carbon screen (sitting on the white insulation) is conductive and must therefore be removed to avoid ground contact with the inner conductor.
