DRAWMER DS201 DUAL GATE – Classic British Studio Rack Unit Serial No: 4536 Made by Drawmer Electronics Ltd, Rotherham, England The DS201 is an industry-standard dual-channel noise gate, long regarded as a go-to unit in professional recording studios worldwide. It features frequency-conscious gating via variable high and low-pass key filters – a pioneering design that set it apart from conventional gates and still makes it a highly sought-after piece of outboard gear. FEATURES. 2 fully independent gate/ducker channels. Variable LF and HF key filters per channel (25Hz-35kHz range). Gate and Duck function modes. Stereo Link switch. Key Listen and Bypass on each channel. Full envelope controls: Threshold, Attack, Hold, Decay, Range. External and Internal key source switching. Signal, gate open, and bypass LEDs per channel. Output Range: -80dB to 0dB. Attack time: 10µS-10mS. Decay time: 50mS-5S. RCA (phono) connectors on rear: Output, Signal Input, Key Input per channel. IEC mains connector, 240V UK spec, 9 Watts CONDITION: Used, working unit. Faceplate is in good condition with legends clearly legible. Chassis shows typical signs of rack life – some scratches and light paint wear on sides and top as visible in photos. Power cable not included (standard IEC kettle lead). Drawmer MX30 dual gated compressor / limiter. A really solid workhorse bit of kit for project studios or live use. The compression is fairly transparent at low amounts of gain reduction, and it just has threshold and ratio controls, no attack and release, so it’s very simple to set up. The gates and limiter are useful added extras and simple to set up. You can link the channels for stereo operation and there are bypass buttons on each channel. I’ve owned this since new, probably had it about 25 years now. I’d say it’s in good condition for the age, but see the pics and judge for yourself. Everything works as it should. There’s a tiny bit of crackle when the bypass goes on and off but it doesn’t cause any problems in normal operation. Cosmetically the face plate is in good condition. On the top and bottom of the unit there’s a fair amount of rack rash, scrapes and scuffs from being racked. Comes with original manual and power lead.
