For sale is a custom unit that I have put together. Its a 2U 19 inch rack mounted pair of backlit VU meters. The large visual meters are mounted into a laser cut piece of black perspex and has a front mounted power switch with a red LED. On the back it has xlr inputs, calibration pots on the circuit boards and a 12 volt input, with a power cable supplied. The pcb on these models requires higher than line level to drive the needle to 0, so you will need to have a send where you can adjust the signal (ie a meter output or your monitor control or send the signal from a aux on your computer or mixing console). The meters are passive and the power is just for the backlights (meters will move without the power lead). These add a nice visual with an analog vibe into your studio. I will be having more models of VU meters coming up for sale soon.

For Sale is a Mackie 24.8 Bus analog recording console with meter bridge and power supply. Its a really great console with 24 microphone/line inputs fed into 8 submix buses, 2 stereo mix buses and 6 auxiliary send buses. There are 24 tape return inputs for multitrack monitoring and mixing or for use as additional line inputs. Perfect for both studio and live applications! The desk is generally in great condition given its age but as it hasnt been used much lately, some of the pots and faders could probably do with a little clean up. Also, the digital VUs for submix buses 1&2 are a little temperamental and the fader on channel 24 needs replacing although this is easily sorted (See picture 7). Other than that, it generally works pretty great and both the mic pres + EQs pack a lot of character! Regrettably having to part with this console as Ive recently moved flat and no longer have enough space for it. Studio Electronics rack mount lighted dual VU meter panel, with +4 balanced XLR inputs. These are a very practical studio accessory, especially for work station, computer based, and post production systems. Built from repurposed VU meters and Sony/MCI PC boards, this is a 3.5 high (2 RU) panel with two accurate, high quality Triplett VU meters and dual buffer electronics. Trimpots on each buffer board provide level adjustment — the unit is designed for +4, but there’s about 16 db of range on the trimmers, to accommodate different levels. The VU meters are each illuminated by two lamps. The lamps are powered below their rated voltage, for extended life. The panel has a six foot cable with two female XLRs for the inputs. The panel is balanced high impedance in, and will have no impact on the sound quality or specs of your system. Please note: upon request we can include two XLR Y-adapters, each with 1 female XLR and 2 males, to provide a “through” connection with parallel outputs for the meter panel. Also, upon request, we can install other types of connectors instead of XLR, such as RCA, 1/4 balanced or unbalanced, etc. The Triplett VU meters are extremely rugged and reliable and feature accurate, familiar ballistics. If you’re running a digital setup with peak indicators but no mechanical VU’s, adding our meter panel will help you to judge the subjective loudness of your mixes. In addition, the high resolution of analog VU meters can be very handy for accurately calibrating input and output levels, and for analog metering of digital plug-ins. The panel is rugged 3/16 aluminum, grained and anodized black (not just painted). The unit is powered by a small 100-240 volt power adapter that will work with any wall voltage. However please note that the power adapter had a US style plug and for other regions you will need to provide the correct socket adapter.
