The SA-87 has established itself as the finest and most accurate replica of a vintage Neumann u87 microphone. The SA-87 is an exact reproduction of a 1979 (rev16) vintage Neumann U 87 microphone, considered by most engineers as the finest sounding U 87 ever made. Made with only premium components it features Vishay and polystyrene capacitors on the audio which are more stable and give a much more linear top end. This makes them the perfect choice for feedback circuitry. All of our 87’s replicas come with a Swedish custom made Lundahl output transformers and a Braingasm BG87 capsule which are handmade in Rome and are considered the most accurate K87 replicas in the market. The main shortcoming with current offerings is polarization voltage. While current models feature 60V, the vintage units were rated at 48V. The lower voltage of polarization makes the capsule sound more musical and mellow as well as increasing the microphones headroom, hence making it less susceptible to distortion.
