The Model 535 Dual Graphic Equalizer is a studio quality product which has wide application in recording, sound reinforcement, radio and TV production, and high fidelity music systems. It uses Harris HA 4741-5 Op Amps. It can be modded, if you wish, by switching out these op-amp ICs. Some people online have done this with good results. However this item is 100% vintage and original. The system is designed to operate at any nominal level from as low as -20dB Ref. 0.775 V allowing its use with low level mixers, high or low impedances, and balanced or single-ended circuits. The Model 535 provides 12 dB of boost or cut at each of its 10 frequencies which are centred at ISO l-octave increments from 31.5 to 16 kHz. The positions of the control arms of the vertical, stepless controls provide a graphic representation of the response curve selected. The filters are active, minimum phase, 2-pole synthesized LC networks, whose skirts properly combine for minimum ripple and phase shift when used in combination. A front panel control adjusts the gain from -10 dB to +20 dB. Bypass switches permit switching the equalization out for A-B test. An optional (SC-1) security cover may be installed to protect all operating controls against inadvertent disturbance or tampering in fixed installations. If you are using the amp with a modern high impedance system, you need to put a 600 (or 620) ohm resistor across the output terminals in parallel with the load. A printed copy of the manual is included. The item is in overall good condition, but as with all vintage audio equipment, the controls may need application of some Deoxit to function at their best after being sat unused for so long.

These followed the LA-3 but feature IC chips and an LED-based optical element, rather than being Class A with T4 opto cell as in the LA-3. Ratios are 2:1, 4:1, 8:1, 12:1, and 20:1. Urei LA-4 Compressor Limiter Stereo Racked Pair #7010A & #7005A – Vintage. This pair of Urei LA-4s come from a professional studio and were racked together for awesome stereo compression. Only 5 serial numbers apart, these units are in great condition, very minor rack wear. Was used A previously used item that exhibits signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended. The Urei LA-4 is a single channel compressor/limiter in half-rack format with very simple controls for input/threshold and output gain. Ratio control and meter function are selectable on these same two knobs. Attack and release times are not controllable. The LA-4 used op-amp electronics and saw a couple of very minor circuit revisions through its production and cosmetic changes. The LA-4 is a very popular platform for modifications to expand its bandwidth and speed up the slew-rate of the audio electronics. The item pictured is the one you will be receiving. This item is in great condition with normal wear and marks from racking and use. It has been fully tested and works great. The power cord is included. The UREI LA-4 Compressor/Limiter is a single-channel unit, although two may be strapped for stereo operation. Making use of UREI’s patented Electro-Optical Attenuator technology, the LA-4 offers smooth, predictable performance coupled with ease of operation. The gain reduction is accomplished with an RMS detector, which is the analog of human hearing, so gain reduction is smooth and natural sounding. The detector consists of a light dependent resistor (LDR) and an electroluminescent light source which is a semiconductor, so it does not change or deteriorate with age. The LA-4 is ideal for all phases of recording, re-recording, and sound reinforcement. It is also useful for broadcast production. However, due to its RMS-responding gain reduction circuitry, the LA-4 is not recommended for overmodulation protection of broadcast transmitters, disc or optical recorders, unless followed by a peak limiter. If the LA-3A is an LA-2A with a little 1176 thrown in, then the LA-4 is the other way around, in terms of functionality and feel. With a double pot design in the primary controls, the LA-4 allowed the user to select between ratios of 2:1, 4:1, 8:1, 12:1, and 20:1. It also reversed the orientation of the primary controls, and renamed them threshold and output, bringing the feel closer to an 1176. However, the LA-4 still retained the optical design and did not bring in controls for attack and release. The LA-4 also saw the end of the class A design, and the introduction of an early integrated circuit (IC) chip. The LA-4 also added the convenience of front panel switching to allow for stereo linking and un-linking of two units–Very convenient, considering that the LA-3A and LA-4 were often used as stereo devices. The most interesting change however, is the introduction of an LED based optical design, which Im certain was a cost saving measure, and may have combated the panel aging factor found in the original T4.
