Grampian 24 Directional Parabolic Reflector with DP4 Vintage microphone
Manufactured by Grampian in the 60’s. The DP4 microphone and parabolic reflector were a complimentary pair. The reflector is made of spun aluminium and measures 24 in diameter. It has been resprayed dark green to improve its camouflage for field recording otherwise it is as supplied new. I have used it to record wildlife and many other sounds in the mid to high frequency band. The reflector also comes with a stereo separation board. I have recorded in stereo with some degree of success. (see extract from an article about this) The microphones and holders shown on the stereo board are not included. The tripod shown in photo is also not included. The DP4 H microphone has not been tested and requires a microphone lead with a DIN connector. Which is readily available. INCLUDED ITEMS ARE – Parabolic reflector with all fittings – Stereo Separation Board – Grampian Set Up Instruction Sheet – Related Articles. Grampian DP4H microphone (not tested but believed to be working). The picture shows a parabolic reflector being used by the BBC Natural History Unit.
