Neve console 8034-8014 class A
If you can pick it up or if your location is not overseas the price will be totally different. These two consoles were put together by Adgil Design in the early 90’s. The signal path is all class A and is like Rupert designed it in the 70s. The modification on the console apart to put them together were mainly done on the aux sections which brings many cool features. Now it has 2 headphones mixs (with many options) and 8 aux on the channels section and 6 aux on the monitor section. It features 8 buss and two (2) stereo master mix buss. The console was modified to have more aux and solo in place on all channels and monitors in the same section. Of the 1883s (routing modules) we managed to put the monitor volume in the 1883s (where originally the pan was located). And now its an inline console with solo in place (or solo PFL). Also it has a fader reverse option by pressing a single switch. BTW the monitor section is identical to the old one because which was passive we even used the original Marinair L31267 xformer to balanced the input signal of all monitors (42 total). All the aux (14 total) are driven by some opamp similar to the one found on SSL. All aux have the options to be either pre or post faders or off. All the signal path meaning direct output.. Post fader output or going to the master buss (2) which is driven by 1272 is all class A and all kept neve factory design. The only parts of the console which is class AB are all the aux and the addition of a stereo master buss which is class AB.. Which is to give the option to either have the old original neve sound or a newer more transparent sound depending on your session. Which is practical for strings session or film etc. The routing signal is all done in the modules (N951) which is located in the meter section. In that module You can access the 8 buss or the two stereo master A or stereo master B by pressing a single swich and the pans for either the monitors section or channels section are located in the same modules above the EQ.. And finally all aux for the monitors are also located in this module N951 which is located in the meter bridge section above the 1073. You can actually used both masters buss or all buss if you want which is practical if you decided to do an instrumental mix or stems or anything which required to be outside the mix at the same time. On the EQ modules (1073,1076 etc). You will notice all the nylon color stickers on the knobs. It can be removed but its so practical to see very well the amount of gain you apply and it looks cool. The console has its original coutant Power supply and a custom made power supply for the new electronics. Heres a description of the actual modules in the console: (all vintage modules no reissue). 7 x 1076 (like 1073 but mastering version with step notches instead of volume). 2 x 1082 (identical to 1084 but the writing for the freqs is on the knobs instead of face plate). 4 x 2065 mic pre with and line in modules with high and low pass filter (picture of the inside on the listing but it has been recaped since). 5 x 2071 mic pre with and line in modules with high and low pass filter(picture of the inside on the listing but it had been recaped since). 6 x 2254e compressor. 36 mic pre eq. The 2065 modules came factory with only line level.. And the 2071 came factory with a mic pre level. Adgil design did added the proper vintage Marinair xformer in each one and a rotary switch in order to have either mic or line level phase and ON & OFF look at the pictures for these modules. Channel section has 8 aux. Monitor section has 6 aux. In line console with solo in place on every channels and monitors. 2 main stereo mix buss. One stereo buss output is driven by 4 x 1272 (insert send and return) like Neve design. And one stereo buss output is driven by modern opamp. This is to give the option of a mix out with different sound texture. The console also has an optifile Tetra automation (working very well). This is the console the famous Montreal’s band Arcade fire had mixed and tracked their record’The suburb” which won “Best record of the year at the Grammy award in 2010 and also brits award and junos award. Also many very well known artist had recorded on that console among them. Emmylou Harris, Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, Marianne Faithful, Linda Ronstadt many others from Canada and France. This console is special and sound like no others. The console comes with many spare parts like cards, knobs, modules, and many NOS switchs (impossible to find) etc. Its all wired for a 24 tracks tape machine and 32 in and out protools. Now its time for me to let it go. The console will be available to the next owner only in the spring may… Early june as we have project to finish before. The console will be split in two and its easy to do which take no more than 1/2 hour all connection on multi connectors. You are more than welcome to come to Montreal and look at and to hear it. Please note that from February 11th to February 22 I will be outside the country. This is the best way to know how good it is. The studio is located at Mechanicland studios in Montreal..
